Synthesis and properties of erythro- and threo-9-(2,3,4-trihydroxybutyl) derivatives of adenine

Antonín Holy

Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry, Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences 166 10 Prague 6, Czechoslovakia

The racemic mixtures of the both series of the title compounds were obtained by condensation of suitably protected aliphatic four-carbon-atom derivatives with the sodium salt of adenine. The optically active compounds were prepared by the application of the same method in the assymetric synthesis, or, by partial degradation of adenine-substituted sugar derivatives.
