SS rRNA sequences from eight basidiomycetes and fungi imperfecti

William F. Walker and W. Ford Doolittle

Department of Biochemistry, Dalhousie University Halifax, Nova Scotia B3H 4H7, Canada

Received July 11, 1983. Revised October 6, 1983. Accepted October 6, 1983.

The 5S rRNA sequences from the basidiomycetes or fungi imperfecti Rh1zocton1a crocorum, Rhizoctonia hiemalis, Exobasidium vaccinii, Tri-chosporon oryzae, T11letia controversa, Tilletiaria anomala, Dacrymyces deliquesTens and Coprinus radiatus were determined. With the exception of Exobasidium, these sequences conform to the association previously found bet-ween septa 1 pore type and sequence. The sequence from the supposed ascomycete anamorph Rhizotonia hiemaHs clearly is allied with basidiomycete sequences.
