Dialkylformamldines: depurination resistant N6-protecting group for deoxyadenosine

B.C. Froehler and M.D. Matteucci

Department of Organic Chemistry, Genentech, Inc., 460 Point San Bruno Boulevard, South San Francisco, CA 94080, USA

Received September 22, 1983. Accepted October 25, 1983.

Sterically hindered N6-dialkylformamid1ne protected deoxyadenosine 1s more stable to acidic depuMnation than N6-benzoyldeoxyadenosine and is potentially a valuable protecting group in the synthesis of deoxyoligo-nucleotides.
