Received December 2, 1983. Accepted December 22, 1983.

The nucleotide sequences from two Pteridophyta species, a fern Dryopteris acwninata and a horsetail Equisetum arvense have been determined. These two sequences are more related to those of the Bryophyta species (88% identity on average) than to those of seed plants (84% identity on average).
