Received December 30, 1976. Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase activity is normal in the bone marrow of congenitally athymic nude mice, regardless of whether transferase activity is calculated on the basis of cell number, DNA content, or activity per femur. This suggests that terminal transferase containing cells of marrow do not originate in thymus.
