James J. Butzow and Gunther L. Eichhorn

Laboratory of Molecular Aging, National Institutes of Health, National Institute on Aging, Baltimore City Hospitals Baltimore, MD 21224, USA

Received January 13, 1977. Traces of the exonuclease RNAse II are retained by E. coli ribosomes purified by conventional high salt washing. The residual activity can give rise to serious artifacts, especially in physical studies.
