Structure of the archaebacterial (transposable element ISH50

We have sequenced in its entirety a new transposable element from the archaebacterium Halobacterium haiobium. This 996 bp element shows some features not unlike those of insertion sequences from eubacteria, although it clearly differs from them in sequences which may be involved in transcription and or translation initiation.
