Clones encoding ribosomal protein YS25
(1,2) were isolated from a genomic DNA library of Saccharomyces cerevisiae using synthetic oligonucleotides corresponding to the partial amino acid sequences of the protein. These sequence analyses suggest that the YS25 gene has an intron containing some features (underlined) in common with the other yeast ribosomal protein genes already determined, the TACTAAC box of which is not strictly conserved. In complete agreement with the primary structure of protein YS25 previously reported (1), the amino acid sequence, deduced from the largest open reading frame, resulted in being split by the putative intron.
