Cover: Distributions of hydrogen bond donor (blue) and acceptor (green) atoms around adenine, as observed in 112 non-homologous protein domains complexed with adenine-containing ligands, as described by Nobeli et al. in this issue: Nucleic Acids Res. (2001) 29, 4294–4309. The wire-cage contours correspond to regions of highest density in the distributions: purple and red contours show the regions having the highest concentrations of donor atoms, while yellow and lilac contours correspond to the highest concentrations of acceptor atoms. The plot was generated using SURFNET [Laskowski (1995) J. Mol. Graph., 13, 323-330] and rendered with Raster3D [Merritt and Bacon (1997) Methods Enzymol., 277,505-524 4257-4508].
