About the Cover

Cover Figure

Cover. Schematic representation of the in vitro selection of aptamers binding to a mirror-image peptide domain (yellow) of Staphylococcus aureus enterotoxin B and their subsequent conversion into biostable aptamers (SpiegelmersTM). According to the rules of symmetry, the mirror-image configuration of that aptamer sequence, the Spiegelmer, recognizes the peptide domain in its natural configuration, also in the context of the full-length protein. Artwork was done by Christian Mihm. For further details see the paper by Purschke et al. in this issue [Nucleic Acids Res. (2003) 31, 3027--3032].
