Cover. A novel statistical sampling algorithm for RNA secondary structure prediction is the basis for a new RNA folding software package Sfold. Sfold is available through Web servers at http://sfold.wadsworth.org and http://www.bioinfo.rpi.edu/applications/sfold. The algorithm generates a statistically representative sample from the Boltzmann ensemble of RNA secondary structures for an RNA molecule. One of the Sfold applications is the target accessibility prediction and rational design of small interfering RNAs (siRNAs).
