About the Cover

Cover Figure

Cover: The aminoglycoside antibiotic gentamicin interacts with the IcaR repressor and interferes with its binding to the ica operator DNA. The consequent expression of the icaADBC genes would lead to biofilm formation in Staphylococcus, making it difficult to eradicate the bacteria. Here the model of two IcaR repressor dimers binding to the operator in a cooperative manner is shown. The free gentamicin molecules are depicted surrounding the IcaR-DNA complex.
